ARCHITECTURE
In concept, this bridge transposes
the natural structural principals
of the 'egg' shell into an art
installation/ bridge work for
urban infrastructure. The
structural forces on the bridge
are made to be concentrated at
the ends of the egg shape in the
middle of the bridge. This makes
the 'space' inside the egg shell
the actual structural integrity of
bridge. The surface of the egg
forms is a mirror, reflecting a
panorama of the city to both the
cars on Lakeshore Drive and the
pedestrians using the bridge.
The reflectivity is the link
between Buckingham Fountain
and the Lake Michigan.
