This pedestrian bridge was designed to extend across Lake Shore Drive in Chicago; from Millennium Park to the edge of Lake Michigan. The concept of the design was to reiterate the structural integrity of the egg shell as it's found in our natural environment. The parabolic shape of egg balances compression force when applied to the end points at equal strengths. With this bridge, we used this same structural formula and allowed the pressure points from gravity to be distributed to the outside of 'shell space' at the bridge center point.

This shell was also mirrored, creating a 4 dimensional panoramic of the city to be viewed from the moving pedestrian and auto traffic above and below the bridge.

• Reiteration of natural structure
• Utilizing vegetation for acoustical control
• Promoting pedestrian movement
• Connecting the park and the lake front
• Simple elegant structure
