This bridge design was the
first in a series of 'egg bridge'
that utilized the idea of the natural
structure of the egg shell to absorb
the loads imposed on the entire bridge.
The concept implemented the egg shell
The organization of the bridge materials
reiterated the tree, nest, egg metaphor.
With this particular pedestrian bridge,
designed for the competition connecting
Leeds and Liverpool, the bridge shape
left a space at the peak so people would
gather and view up and down the recreational
river and experience the reflection of the
city surroundings in the elliptical glass
railing.
