Ms. Hoeksema's visual works
convey relationships between
the viewer and spaces. The
spaces shaped can relate to
the actual picture plane of
the painting/ drawing, to the
virtual space beyond the picture
plane, and to the literal space
between the viewer and the front
of the picture plane. Larger
canvases are intended to be
'experienced' and shape the places
in which they are located. Most
importantly, these visual works are
2 Dimensional and people connect with
them at the scale of the human eye.
